MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute is now accepting applications for the 2021 DOST-SEI S&T Undergraduate Scholarships. View here the date of exam, qualifications, requirements, online application form, schedule, step-by-step guide and more.

The date of nationwide qualifying examination is set on October 25, 2020.

August 7, 2020 Update: DOST-SEI postponed the conduct of DOST scholarship exams this year. New target is between January – June 2021.


With the pandemic affecting mobility and posing health risk to all, the conduct of the national qualifying examination for the 2021 Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) and the 2022 DOST-SEI S&T Undergraduate Scholarships is temporarily being 𝙋𝙊𝙎𝙏𝙋𝙊𝙉𝙀𝘿.


The new target schedule is within the First Semester of CY 2021 (January – June 2021).

Please note, however, that the deadline for submission of application to the 2021 DOST-SEI S&T Undergraduate Scholarships, and the uploading of requirements for the successful registrants to the 2020 JLSS Program remains on AUGUST 28, 2021


Students who belong to families whose socio-economic status does not exceed the cut-off values for certain indicators may apply for RA 7687 program, otherwise, applicants may apply for the Merit Scholarship Program.

RA 7687: For academically talented students who belong to economically disadvantaged families. Qualifiers must pursue priority fields of study in the basic sciences, engineering, other applied sciences, and science and mathematics teaching.

MERIT: Awarded to students with high aptitude in science and mathematics and are willing to pursue careers in the fields of science and technology.


QUALIFICATIONS: Who are eligible?

1. Natural-born Filipino citizens

2. Grade 12 students under the STEM track

3. For non-STEM Grade 12 students: those who belong to the upper 5% of the graduating class; and

4. For High school graduates prior to the K-12 program: those who have not yet earned any post-secondary units in college/university level (must also be part of the upper 5% in his/her high school graduating class).

3. a. member of the top five percent (5%) of the Non-STEM strand senior high school graduating class;


b. member of the STEM strand senior high school graduating class;
4. resident of the municipality as attested by the barangay;
5. of good moral character and in good health;
6. do not have any post-secondary or undergraduate   units
7. a. Have not taken any previous DOST-SEI   examination;
or b. Have taken the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Examination but did   not qualify for the scholarship;
or c. Qualifier of the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship but did not avail of the award;
8. qualifier of the S&T Scholarship Examination

On March 29, a total of 9,788 graduating senior high school students clinched a slot in the country’s premier science scholarship programs for SY 2020-2021. Out of the total number of passers, 5,917 qualified as scholars under the RA 7687 while while 3,871 qualified under the DOST-SEI Merit Scholarship Program.

The 2020 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Examination, which was held on October 20, 2019 in 347 test centers nationwide, hit a record-breaking 102,526 examinees. View list of qualifiers here.
